Rihanna – “Rude Boy” Video

So the heavily anticipated video for Rihanna’s “Rude Boy” has finally dropped, and it’s definitely something different for Rihanna.
She’s temporarily shed her hardcore look and has actually incorporated some color -and quite a few hip rolls- into this one.
If you haven’t seen it already, check it out.

I’m on the fence about this one. While I love the zebra scene because of the awesome background, I don’t know how I feel about her gyrating atop of a lion. One of my friends pointed out that since she has incorporated a lot …

“Pretty Girls” Video

By now, I’m sure that everybody and their mama has seen Wale’s video for “Pretty Girls,” but I feel like it must be recognized. It debuted on 106th and Park last night, and although most of the DMV was ecstatic that go-go is finally being played on airwaves that stretch past the Potomac.
Go ahead and press play.

Sorry, ya’ll but I’m not really feeling this video. I’d just built it up in my head so much. It involved Wale doing that whole, corny walking-down-the-street-for-no-reason-then-spot-love-of-life thing.
I was sadly disappointed. Still love the …

Alicia Keys x Beyonce x Boxing Kitten

I, along with the rest of the R&B-loving world was more than excited to hear that Alicia Keys and Beyoncé teamed up on a track, but now that I’ve seen pics from the video shoot of “Put It On a Love Song,” I’m even more excited about the clothes than the song.
They’re wearing designs from the line, Boxing Kitten by designer, Maya A. Lake. Her entire line is handmade with Ankara fabrics from West Africa.
I’m not usually into colors, but I’m loving this.

Definitely mad I was up on her sooner…
Concrete …

Beyonce x Lady Gaga On the Set of “Telephone”

While I’m on the topic of the Grammys, here are a pics of Lady Gaga and Beyoncé on the set of their new video “Telephone.”

“Video Phone” was way too hyped-up, in my opinion. It took a very long time for it to grow on me, but Beyoncé has this innate ability to come out with something I hate the first few hundred times I see/hear it, and then on 301, I’m it’s biggest fan.
Speaking with Beyoncè, she did me proud at the VMAs. Who do you know that can perform “You Oughta …

Howard for Haiti: Wale’s Performance

Last night, DC rappers, including Wale and Phil Ade performed at benefit concert in Howard University’s Cramton Auditorium to raise money to send to Haiti. Didn’t get a chance to go to the concert, but I heard great things about it. And by the looks of this video, all of the stories were true…

Looks like I missed quite a party…
They charged $10 per ticket, and judging by the wall-to-wall insanity in that room, they raised quite a bit of cash to help in the relief effort.
Loving it.

Random: A-ha’s “Take On Me”

Due to my mother’s love for premium cable and many days stuck in this house without a car before I return to DC (where everything is Metro-accessible), music videos have been a good escape.
Just thought I’d share one of my faves. It’s “Take On Me” by Norwegian pop band, A-ha. It was released in 1985 and is still one of the most creative videos I’ve ever seen. Just something I feel that everyone should know in order to be a complete person.
Enjoy.

Omarion “Hoodie”

I’ve been meaning to post this for awhile now. One of my most frequent—and most vocal—readers, Mal, hasn’t seen it yet and I’m dying to hear what ya’ll think.
Omarion has dedicated this video to the late Michael Jackson, and I hate to say that I’m not feeling it all that much…seems like I’ve seen it before, and didn’t really like it the first time.
Now, “I Get It In” on the other hand…

What do ya’ll think?
